Progress, Not Perfection: Thriving 10 Minutes at a Time

Progress, Not Perfection: Thriving 10 Minutes at a Time

Hey! There are days when life as a parent feels like one big juggling act, do you feel them?

Between the school runs, the endless laundry, and the hundred other things pulling at your time, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly falling behind, it can get really tiring.

I’ve been there... I am still there sometimes, with multiple kiddos in the house. I know what it’s like to want to do all the things and do them well, only to feel like you’re failing at all of them.

Here’s the thing I’ve learned, and it’s become the foundation of my life and the 10-Minute Mum Method:

You don’t need perfection. You just need progress.

Why Progress Matters More Than Perfection

Here's what I think and have come to learn - The idea of “doing it all perfectly” isn’t just unrealistic, it’s so unhelpful to yourself. Trying to be everything to everyone only leaves you feeling exhausted and defeated.

But progress? Progress is kinder to and for you. It says, “Just do the next small thing.”

That’s where the 10-Minute Mum Method comes in. It’s about breaking life down into manageable moments, just 10 minutes at a time. It’s not about overhauling everything overnight, it’s about taking small, intentional steps that move you forward, even on the busiest days.

3 Ways to Embrace Progress with the 10-Minute Mum Method

If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t have time to do this right now,” I get it. That’s why the 10-Minute Mum Method was formed and works, it’s designed for parents who don’t have hours to spare but still want to feel in control of their lives.

Here are three ways you can start making progress today:

1. Take 10 Minutes for an Anchor Action

Anchor Actions are small but meaningful tasks that bring a sense of calm or accomplishment.

Set a timer for 10 minutes and pick just one thing:

  • Declutter one drawer.
  • Write down three things you’re grateful for.
  • Spend uninterrupted time with your child.

You’d be amazed at how much you can achieve when you focus for just 10 minutes.

2. Celebrate Every Little Win

When you complete an Anchor Action, even something as simple as wiping down the kitchen counters, take a moment to recognise it. Step back once you're done, and recognise yourself for taking that action.

Progress isn’t about doing everything; it’s about doing something. That “something” builds momentum, and momentum is what creates real change.

3. Let Go of the All-or-Nothing Trap

This one’s a big one. So often, we hold back because we think, “If I can’t do it perfectly, why should I bother? I am not made for this.”

But here’s the truth: Perfect doesn’t exist. What matters is showing up, trying, and doing what you can.

The 10-Minute Mum Method is about giving yourself permission to work in small steps, knowing that they all add up.

The 10-Minute Mindset Shift

Progress isn’t about finding more time. It’s about redefining what you can do with the time you have.

When you embrace those 10-minute moments, you’re not just ticking tasks off a list, you’re creating space for the things that matter most. You’re showing yourself (and your family) that you’re capable, intentional, and worthy of a life that feels fulfilling.

What’s Your Next 10 Minutes?

I want you to ask yourself this: “What’s one thing I can do in 10 minutes today that will make me feel more in control or at ease?”

Write it down. Set a timer. Do it.

And when you’re done, take a moment to acknowledge your progress. Because that’s what it’s all about, moving forward, one small step at a time.

You’ve got this. And if you ever need a cheerleader in your corner, I’m right here.

With love and belief in you,
Rebecca
